Description
As a cruising sailboat owner, there are traditionally certain things done every few years, that require the boat being hauled out of the water. In this case it was to paint a new protective barrier on the hull to keep the hull clean of growth from algae and barnacles. And normally when doing that you can check all your through hull fittings to make sure they are serviceable. Sure wouldn't want to sink some time in the future. In this case I had to replace one and a ball valve. Also it is always important to check the cutlass bearing for the drive shaft to insure it is in good shape. And then as boats get older they need to be upgraded. In my case it has been about a 2 year project and now am getting close to that time when I can enjoy the fruits of my labor. And I do mean that literally!!!
