Description
Lower Manhattan as seen from the East River with Freedom Tower and Brooklyn Bridge above highlighted. Freedom Tower was built to commemorate the horrific loss of the Twin Towers on 9/11. The Brooklyn Bridge looms majestically over New York City's East River, linking the two boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Since 1883, its granite towers and steel cables have offered a safe and scenic passage to millions of commuters and tourists, trains and bicycles, pushcarts and cars. The bridges construction took 14 years, involved 600 workers and cost $15 million (more than $320 million in todays dollars). Both are iconic landmarks of NY City.
