Description
Wing-on-wing sailing takes full advantage of every square inch of canvas to increase speed on a downwind leg by pushing the mainsail and the jib out to opposite sides of the boat. The farther off the wind your heading, the more ease you need in the sails to keep them filled. If the wind is coming from behind, for the downwind section of a course or race, you need this dramatic tactic to keep the boat moving.
